The Norman Police Department is partnering with Norman Public Schools, the Norman Fire Department, and EMSSTAT to hold a drill exercise that mimics an armed intruder at a high school. The drill will take place at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Norman North High School, 1809 Stubbeman Avenue in Norman.

In the drill area, individuals may see NPD officers, first responders and medical personnel in uniform. Simulated gunshots, sirens or fire alarms, and other loud noises may be heard. NPD routinely trains for a variety of disaster and emergency situations and is proud to partner with Norman Public Schools and other local first responders to improve the safety of our community.

Members of the media are invited to attend and film the drill. Representatives will be available for interview or additional information. Media interested in attending are asked to contact Sarah Jensen at 405-307-7122 so that she can
provide information about where to meet her upon arrival. Also please note if on this day you receive calls about the number of police and first responders at Norman North High School it is because of this drill exercise.
