Police Activities League

The purpose of the Police Activities League (PAL) is to foster relationships that will bridge the gaps between law enforcement and youth in the community, while also exposing the students to the possibility of a future career serving their community. The goal of the program is to motivate young people to be outstanding citizens and to empower them to act as a positive influence in the community.

The Norman Police Department is now accepting applications for its PAL Summer Camp. The camp will be held from July 10-28 at Longfellow Middle School. Participants will attend camp Monday through Friday of each week from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp is for students entering the 7th and 8th grade. There is no cost to attend. Breakfast and lunch are provided.

The three-week camp combines classroom learning with hands-on activities. Participants will be exposed to a variety of topics including patrol tactics, criminal investigations, traffic safety, self-defense tactics, firearms safety, internet and social media safety, and weekly character values. The program is presented each summer. Alternate schedules may occur and will be advertised in advance.

There are a limited number of spots available. To apply, download and complete the application packet below. The application includes one recommendation and a short question regarding why the child desires to attend the camp. The packet must be complete and include all necessary signatures to be considered. Completed application packets can be returned to MPO Carl Pendleton at the Norman Police Department, 201-B W. Gray Street. Priority is given to students who reside or attend school in the City of Norman. The deadline to apply is May 25.
