Police Activities League

The purpose of the Police Activities League is to foster relationships that will bridge the gaps between law enforcement and youth while also exposing them to future careers in serving their community. The goal of the program is to motivate young people to be outstanding citizens and to empower them to act as a positive influence in our community, while participating in activities. PAL blends classroom learning with hands on   activities to expose Junior Cadets to a variety of topics including: fitness,   patrol, criminal investigations, crime lab, traffic safety, bicycle safety, self-defense, firearms safety, and internet safety, and weekly character values.

The program is presented each summer and is available to students entering the 7th & 8th grades. A student from any school district may apply, but priority is given to City of Norman residents. The Academy normally meets Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for 3weeks. Alternate schedules may occur and will be advertised in advance. There is no cost for the Police Activities League.  This year, the Norman Police Activities League will be held at Longfellow Middle School, 215 N. Ponca Ave.

Interested applicants should download an Application Packet and return it by the stated deadline. The application packet includes two recommendations, signed releases and waivers, and a short essay.
