The Norman Police Department received a report of threats to the safety and security of a Norman school, Alcott Middle School, Wednesday. Investigators immediately opened an investigation and began working to make contact with the alleged suspects.

Officers located the two suspects inside a vehicle in the area of State Highway 9 and 24th Avenue SW overnight. The two suspects identified as 21-year-old Ryan Nathaniel Tripp and 28-year-old Michael Shane Mahseet were taken into custody without incident. Both suspects were booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on complaints of Conspiracy to Commit a Terrorist Act.

Investigators have located no evidence that leads them to believe that the two suspects had the means to carry out the threats.

Norman police worked closely with Norman Public Schools throughout the investigation to ensure a plan was in place that put student and faculty safety at the forefront. Out of an abundance of caution, a sweep of the school was completed and an increased police presence remained at the school and in the surrounding area throughout the day.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
