Norman Police Investigate Critical Injury Collision at Dewey Ave & Chesapeake Street

On November 21, 2018 at approximately 7 P.M. the Norman Police Department responded to a reported injury collision near the intersection of Dewey Ave and Chesapeake St. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious adult male pedestrian who had been struck by a CART bus. The male subject was treated on the scene by Norman and OUPD Officers, members of the Norman Fire Department, and EMSSTAT personnel. The subject was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Initial investigation into the incident indicates the bus was traveling southbound on Dewey Ave approaching Chesapeake St when the male walked east from an open field into the path of the bus where he was struck. The driver of the bus attempt to avoid the collision but was unable to do so. No indications of improper action by the bus or its driver have been discovered.  

The male pedestrian has been identified as Anthony K. Littlebear, age 37, from Norman, OK. He remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The CART bus was driven by William R. Logan, age 64, from Norman, OK. Mr. Logan was not injured during the collision. At the time of the collision the bus has two passengers aboard, none of which were injured.  

The collision remains under investigation by the Norman/OU Police Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team (CIRT).
