Norman Police Investigate Critical Injury Collision at Flood Avenue and Tecumseh Road

The Norman Police Department responded to a report of a critical injury collision near the intersection of Flood Avenue and Tecumseh Road at approximately 11:50 a.m. The preliminary investigation into the collision indicates that a vehicle traveling southbound on Flood Avenue failed to stop as it approached the traffic signal at the intersection hitting one vehicle from behind. The first collision began a chain reaction that led to four additional vehicles being hit.

Two individuals involved in the collision were transported by EMSSTAT to OU Medical Center. Both are currently listed in critical condition.

One individual involved in the collision was transported by EMSSTAT to a local hospital where are currently listed in stable condition.

Southbound Flood Avenue was closed from Interstate 35 to Tecumseh Road for approximately three hours. The collision is under investigation by the NPD/OUPD Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team (CIRT).
