Norman Police Investigate Critical Injury Collision at State Highway 9 and 60th Avenue SE

The Norman Police Department responded to a report of an injury collision at the intersection of State Highway 9 and 60th Avenue SE at approximately 3:54 p.m. Monday. The preliminary investigation into the collision indicates that a Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on 60th Avenue SE toward State Highway 9 when the driver failed to yield and was struck by a Ford F550 Truck traveling eastbound on State Highway 9.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla has been identified as Morris Johnson. Morris Johnson was transported by EMSSTAT to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition. The vehicle’s passenger was Mary Johnson. Mary Johnson was also transported by EMSSTAT to an area hospital where she remains in stable condition.

The driver of the Ford F550 Truck has been identified as Billy Blackwell. Blackwell was not injured as a result of the collision.

State Highway 9 at 60th Avenue SE was closed for approximately four hours while the scene was investigated. The collision remains under investigation by the NPD/OUPD Collison Investigation and Reconstruction Team.
