Norman Police Investigate Critical Injury Crash at 108th Avenue SE and Post Oak Road

The Norman Police Department responded to a report of an injury collision at the intersection of 108th Avenue SE and Post Oak Road at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Saturday. The preliminary investigation into the collision indicates that a Dodge Grand Caravan was traveling southbound on 108th Avenue SE approaching Post Oak Road when it struck a Chevrolet TrailBlazer. The driver of the Chevrolet TrailBlazer was traveling eastbound on Post Oak Road when they failed to notice the intersection’s stop sign, continued into the intersection, and was struck by the Dodge Grand Caravan.

After the initial collision, the Chevrolet TrailBlazer continued into a wooded area southeast of the intersection where it caught on fire. The Norman Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish the fire, and the vehicle’s driver and passenger were able to get out of the vehicle. The Dodge Grand Caravan rolled landing on its roof on the south side of the roadway.

The driver of the Dodge Grand Caravan has been identified as 54-year-old Susan Morris of Lexington. Susan Morris was transported by EMSSTAT to an area hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The vehicle’s passenger, 55-year-old Carl Morris of Lexington, was also transported by EMSSTAT to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Both were treated and released.

The driver of the Chevrolet TrailBlazer has been identified as 18-year-old Jacob Babcock of Moore. Jacob Babcock was transported by EMSSTAT to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition. The vehicle’s passenger was 15-year-old Ali Babcock of Moore. Ali Babcock received only minor injuries that were treated at the scene.

The intersection of 108th Avenue SE and Post Oak Road was closed for approximately four hours while the scene was investigated. The collision remains under investigation by the NPD/OUPD Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team.
