Norman Police Investigate Overnight Deadly Shooting

On April 23 at approximately 10:55 p.m., the Norman Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at 1852 E. Lindsey Street. Upon arrival, officers located one adult male, later identified as 20-year-old Nathaniel Ewing, in the parking lot of the apartment complex with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Ewing was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries this morning.

Preliminary information indicates that Ewing and another individual were contacted by two black males in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Witnesses indicate that the two black males attempted to rob Ewing and the other individual. During the incident, two shots were fired. Ewing was shot once. The other individual ran from the scene, and was not injured. The two suspects then drove away from the scene in a light-colored sports utility vehicle. Ewing does not live at this location. It remains under investigation why he was at the apartment complex at the time of the incident.

Investigators have identified a person of interest. However, no arrests have been made at this time.
