The Norman Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian that had been hit by a train near the Boyd Street railroad crossing just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The initial investigation into the incident found that 24-year-old Jordan Weaver was walking alongside the railroad tracks when she was clipped by the train. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) train engineer stated that he saw Weaver walking near the tracks and consistently sounded the train’s horn and slowed down prior to the collision. However, Weaver did not heed the warning and remained near the railroad tracks where she was clipped by the train. Officials on scene believe Weaver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. Weaver was transported to an area hospital. Her injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

The collision remains under investigation.

Due to the investigation into the incident, the railroad crossings at Boyd Street, Brooks Street, and Lindsey Street were blocked for just over two hours.
