The Norman Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 500 block of 24th Avenue NW just after 3 p.m. Thursday. Once on scene, officers encountered one of the individuals involved in the domestic dispute. When approached, the male pointed a firearm at officers and then ran from the scene. A short foot pursuit ensued. The male was able to make his way back to the apartment where he shut the door and refused to communicate with officer. The NPD SWAT Team was activated and negotiators began working to make contact with the male suspect. After no success, the SWAT Team deployed CS gas into the apartment and the male suspect was taken into custody without incident. No one was injured during the incident.

The 17-year-old male was arrested on complaints of assault with a deadly weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, felonious pointing of a firearm, possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, and obstruction. He was transported to the Cleveland County Detention Center.

The incident remains under investigation by the Norman Police Department.
