NPD to Host Free Adult Bicycle Safety School

The Norman Police Department invites the community to take part in its inaugural Adult Bicycle Safety School. The purpose of the course is to educate participants on proper bicycle safety procedures, as well as the city’s bicycle laws. The goal is to provide adults with a free opportunity to gain key bicycle safety information that they may have never learned or may have forgotten about over the years.  

WHO:            Norman Police Department

WHAT:          Led by members of Norman Police Department’s Bicycle Team, the two-hour course will take a hands-on approach to teaching bicycle safety procedures, as well as the city’s bicycle laws that are important to improving the safety of all.

                     Participants must complete an application prior to being admitted to the course. Spots are limited. To apply, complete the application found here. Completed applications or questions can be emailed to Captain Shawn Hawkins at or dropped off at the Norman Police Department, 201 W. Gray Street – Building B. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, April 17 at 5 p.m.
