The Norman Police Department, in partnership with Republic Bank and Trust, Absolute Data Shredding, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, and Safe Kids Oklahoma will host an event for residents looking to dispose of unwanted documents, prescription drugs, and ammunition. The event will also offer car seat installs and checks to attendees.

The NPD Police Community Partnership Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 20 from 8 a.m. to Noon in the parking lot of Andrews Park at the corner of James Garner Avenue and Daws Street.

During the event, Norman residents can bring up to five boxes of documents to be shredded by Absolute Data Shredding in partnership with Republic Bank and Trust. The Shred-A-Thon was created to provide citizens the opportunity to properly dispose of documents containing sensitive information, keeping their personal information out of the hands of criminals.

Residents can also bring any outdated, unused or unneeded prescription drugs to be disposed of in an environmentally responsible way. The Pharmaceutical Take-Back Program will be held in partnership with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics. Please do not bring syringes, liquid medications, or inhalers.

In addition, the Norman Police Department will provide an opportunity for residents to drop off old and unwanted ammunition to be destroyed. No explosives are allowed.

The event this spring will also include car seat checks and installs. In partnership with Safe Kids Oklahoma, car seat technicians will be on-hand to teach residents how to install their child’s car seat or booster seat. Technicians will also be able to inform residents if it is time to change or transition their child to a new car seat.
