NPD Investigates Fatality Collision on West Main Street

The Norman Police Department responded to a report of a critical injury collision in the 4100 block of W. Main Street at 7:09 p.m. Wednesday. The preliminary investigation into the collision indicates that a 2006 Honda Odyssey Van was traveling eastbound on Main Street when it struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway.

The pedestrian has been identified as 65-year-old Rodney McCrady of Norman. McCrady was transported by EMSSTAT to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Honda Odyssey Van has been identified as 68-year-old Janell O’Neal of Norman. O’Neal was not injured in the collision, and there were no indications of impairment.

Main Street between Willow Branch Road and Willoway Drive was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated. The collision remains under investigation by the NPD/OUPD Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team (CIRT).
