The Norman Police Department responded to a report of an injury collision at the intersection of 36th Avenue NW and Tecumseh Road at approximately 5:44 p.m. Tuesday. The preliminary investigation into the collision indicates that an individual riding a motorized bicycle was crossing Tecumseh Road headed northbound on 36th Avenue NW in the crosswalk on the eastside of the intersection when he was struck by a Toyota SUV traveling westbound on Tecumseh Road. Early indications are that the westbound traffic had the right-of-way as their traffic signal was green at the time of the collision.

The individual riding the motorized bicycle has been identified as 29-year-old Russell Turner of Norman. Turner was transported by EMSSTAT to an area hospital where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He is listed in stable condition.

The driver of the Toyota SUV has been identified as 26-year-old Brett Bigbie of Norman. Bigbie did not sustain any injuries in the collision.

A portion of the intersection of 36th Avenue NW and Tecumseh Road was closed for approximately two hours. The collision remains under investigation by the NPD/OUPD Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team.
