NPD Officers Excel at Dale DeBerry Regional and State Police Pistol Combat Championships

Members of the Norman Police Department recently hosted and competed against the best shooters in the region at the Dale DeBerry Memorial Regional and State Police Pistol Combat Championships at the Norman Police Department Training Facility. The competition featured approximately 50 competitors from the region which consists of Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Iowa.

Eight Norman officers were named to the Governor’s 20. The Governor’s 20 Program was designed to recognize the top 20 law enforcement officers from each state for excellence in the police combat competition. Sgt. Joshua Barker (3), Lt. Jeremy Garnand (4), Sgt. Robert Wasoski (10), MPO Gregory Gardner (13), retired Officer David St. John (16), MPO Robert Maldonado (17), Officer Jamie Crowe (18), and MPO Elliot Gribaudo (20) all earned a prestigious spot in the Governor’s 20.

Lt. Garnand received the award for second place overall in the Regional Championships. Lt. Garnand and Sgt. Barker were named Regional Semi-Automatic Champions and Regional Revolver Runner-ups in the two-officer team matches. Sgt. Wasoski, MPO Maldonado, MPO Gardner, and MPO Gribaudo took second place in the four-officer Regional Semi-Automatic Match. Sgt. Wasoski, MPO Maldonado, MPO Gardner, and Officer Crowe took third place in the four-officer Regional Revolver Match.

In the state competition, Lt. Garnand and Sgt. Barker were received second place honors in the two-officer team category. Sgt. Wasoski, MPO Maldonado, MPO Gardner, and MPO Gribaudo took third place in the state four-officer category.
