The Norman Police Department will join law enforcement agencies across the country to celebrate the third annual National Coffee with a Cop Day on Wednesday, October 3.

The event is scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. at Braum’s, 800 E. Lindsey Street. All community members are invited to attend, and the event is kid-friendly.

The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community, and some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Cop allows community members to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in Norman’s neighborhoods, breaking down barriers and providing an opportunity for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.

Norman’s Coffee with a Cop events are held on different days of the week and at different times of day each month to ensure our residents have equal opportunity to come together with their local police officers to discuss community issues and build relationships in an informal, neutral space.
