On February 23, at approximately 7:32 p.m., the Norman Police Department responded to a report of an injury collision involving a charter bus and pedestrian in the 1700 block of 24th Avenue SW. The preliminary investigation into the collision indicates that the charter bus was traveling southbound on 24th Avenue SW when it struck a male pedestrian who was traveling west in the lane of traffic. At the time of the collision, the pedestrian was not in or near a marked crosswalk or at a controlled intersection.

The pedestrian, later identified as 65-year-old Donald Robinson of Norman, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The Norman Police Department was notified on February 26 that Robinson had passed away as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

The driver of the charter bus, later identified as 52-year-old Robert Alinger of Noble, was not injured. The charter bus did not have any passenger at the time of the collision.

No other vehicles or persons were involved in the collision. The collision remains under investigation by the NPD/OUPD Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team (CIRT).
